The LEO Contract IFAK is geared specifically for General Duty members, as a byproduct of our Stop the Bleed training at their detachments. Upon reviewing the IFAKs currently being provided to members, we identified several shortcomings:, lack of coverage for multiple bleed sites, lack of consideration for prolonged field exposure for rural environments, and critical components lacking compatibility with the pouch space available leading to being left out.

We put together this kit to rectify those issues, drastically improve the coverage offered, and minimize cost increases per unit.

The SAM XT TQ is authorized for duty use by RCMP and CBSA officers, and meets Z1220-17 CSA Tourniquet requirements for Provincial workplace First Aid kits.

SAM XT is a recommended tourniquet by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC), and the SAM XT TQ has been approved by the RCMP, CBSA, Montreal PD, and other law enforcement agencies for official usage on duty.

Why Two Tourniquets?

When a single TQ fails to stop the life threatening bleeding, the next intervention is to apply another tourniquet immediately above the first. In addition, duty applications face a much higher likelihood of incurring multiple bleed sites during a single incident, which require an extra TQ for each involved limb.
